Does SWLYB offer sibling discounts?

Yes...$25

Does SWLYB allow late registration or have a waiting list?

Yes, although at an increased cost for late enrollments. We do utilize a waiting list if enrollment reaches capacity.

If my child does not get placed on a team from the waiting list, will I get a refund?

Yes

Can I request a certain coach or teammate?

At the Tee Ball level we will accommodate requests due to carpool or family relationship for teammates. We DO NOT accommodate requests for a certain coach at any level or teammate requests above Tee Ball.

What is my child's "league age"?

League age is determined by your child's age as of April 30th of the current year.

What does the registration fee include and what equipment will I need to purchase for my child?

Registration fee includes your child's hat and jersey. It also helps to cover the cost of insurance, field maintenance, equipment purchase and upkeep, and park maintenance.

It is recommended that you purchase a glove, helmet, bat, and cleats for your child. Gloves and cleats are a must. Players may share bats and helmets, but it is not ideal. The league will provide catcher's gear for each team.

Preseason:

What is the “Opening Day Ceremony”?

Opening Day is a celebration of the upcoming season. We will recognize the current teams and coaches, honor the outgoing 12 year old players, have a ceremonial first pitch, have a flag raising ceremony with the national anthem, and all teams will play that day.

What are the various divisions?

Tee Ball (4-5 year olds)

Rookies (5-6 year olds)

Minors (7-8 year olds)

Preps (9-10 year olds)

Majors (11-12 year olds)

13 year olds who are still in 6th grade can be evaluated by the board to determine if they can enroll.

What is the Draft and Skills Assessment?

Each division (except Tee Ball and Rookie) will have a skill assessment date for the coaches to evaluate players to draft. Attendance is mandatory so that coaches can assess all player skills and the draft can generate the most balanced teams as possible. Any player who cannot make the skills assessment date is ineligible to be drafted and will be placed on a team at random.

How do I become a coach?

At the time of registration, you can enroll as a volunteer. You can select "Coach" or "Assistant Coach". You will need to provide information for a background check as well as complete several free certifications and attend a coaches meeting.

During the season:

When does the season begin and what commitment will I be required to make?

The season always varies by year, but a good rule of thumb is that practices start the last week of March (first week of April for Tee Ball) and games start the last week of April.

Where/when will games and practices be held?

All games and practices are held at Lion's Park. Each diamond is typically set for an early evening event (5:30pm) and a late evening event (7:15pm)

What are All-Stars and what is the associated commitment?

The league does support all-star teams at the Minor, Prep, and Major levels.  each team will play in 3 tournaments in July with one tournament being hosted by SWLYB.  Players are nominated by coaches and the selection is done by the collective group of coaches for that age group along with Board input and approval.
